PUBLIC REALM | Fairfield Green Croydon

The Opening was an event to celebrate possible futures for the Fairfield area of Croydon which took place at Arnhem Gate, Croydon's triumphant arch by Fairfield Gardens and Croydon College.

The Opening was the beginning of a discussion about The Fairfield area, its past, present and future uses. It was a rehearsal for a possible future of the site, a contemporary revival of Croydon’s old Fair Field that played host to a festive day of local food, drinks, discussion, football, music and a workshop to learn how to put on your own event.

We lay down a blueprint plan for ‘The Fair Field’ which outlined possible future activities for ‘The Fair Field’. On the day we extruded just one room of the blueprint, the games room, as a starting point for a discussion on the future of the car park.

Event program:

2.00: Opening speech & music from The All Saints Concert Band / 3.00: Start your own grassroot project workshop / 3.00 - 6.00: 5-A-side football & background piano jazz / 6.00: Inaugural speeches from the people of Croydon / 7.00: Artwork (Magnetic Man) / Sgt Pokes (croydub / DMZ) / Local food by Madass / Discussion & more!
